A reported domestic disturbance in the early morning hours Wednesday resulted in the arrest of a Pine Bluff man accused of punching and kicking his 76-year-old father.
Christopher Reynolds, 46, was taken into custody after police were sent to an address on Virginia Street at 5:16 a.m.
During a court hearing Thursday morning, Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson read from a probable cause affidavit from Detective Keith Banks to explain what officers were told when they arrived.
Carson said when Banks tried to interview Reynolds at the jail, Reynolds said he did not understand his rights and then said he heard voices in his head and they were not normal voices. Reynolds’ father said his son was taking a number of medications for a mental condition and would get aggressive when he did not take his medications properly.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 bond for Reynolds after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with second-degree domestic battery. Reynolds was ordered to have no contact with his father until the case is settled.
