The Monticello City Council was told Tuesday that work on Lake Monticello was nearing completion.

According to the Advance Monticellonian newspaper, Interim Public Works Director Charlie Hammock said the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is still working to complete their projects and Mayor Paige Chase said workers on the project want to ensure that the work is done properly so there won’t be any recurrent issues.

Also at the meeting, Michael Hudson with the Advertising and Promotion Commission told the council that a bid has been accepted for Christmas lights at McCoy Park. The lights will be on display form Nov. 24 to Jan. 3. The commission is planning a Food Truck Friday to raise money for underprivileged children with details to be released later.
