Pine Bluff City Council member Ivan Whitfield has asked Parks and Recreation Director Samuel Glover to find a way to keep restrooms at the city’s parks open at night and on the weekends.

At a previous meeting of the City Council’s Public Works Committee, Whitfield raised the subject and during a meeting Tuesday, renewed his request.

Glover explained that parks and rec started locking the bathrooms because they were being vandalized and said the bathrooms are currently being locked between and 5 p.m. on Friday and remain locked until Monday. To do anything different would require either an employee to make two daily trips Saturday and Sunday to the parks to unlock or lock them back or having a police officer do it. Another alternative would be to hire someone to do it.
