An Arkansas City man previously accused of trying to drown his wife in a ditch in Drew County on June 15 is now facing new accusations in Desha County.
According to the McGehee Dermott Times News, Jonathan Eric Garrison, 36, was identified as a suspect in three residential burglaries, three counts of theft of property firearm, and unlawful use of another’s property to facilitate a crime. The charges stem from a burglary in Arkansas City on May 11 where the victim reported that a bag missing from his home contained two shotguns. A handgun and a PlayStation gaming system were also reported missing.
The newspaper reported that Garrison was developed as a suspect in the Desha County case based on information and evidence gathered after his Drew County arrest.
That arrest occurred after Garrison allegedly beat his wife, then drove her and two young children to a farm road and pushed her head underwater in a ditch multiple times. He was charged with two counts of third-degree battery, three counts of aggravated assault on a family or household member, and three counts of kidnapping and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
