Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington on Thursday talked about the major snowstorm that hit the city in February and what action the city took.

Speaking during her State of the City address, the Mayor said Pine Bluff will work with community partners to assess the overall response and to address concerns from the public. She also thanked members of the community who, in the Mayor’s words, “worked tirelessly to locate and respond to leaks.” She said she was also grateful to the Pine Bluff Street Department for maintaining major thoroughfares and streets providing access to the hospital.

Washington also touched on public safety and the challenges that it faced in 2020.

She said the city partnered with social justice advocates and hosted several events so residents could share their ideas to address the crisis. Conversations also led to ideas for change that the city will work on implementing this year.
