Ryan Watley, the CEO of Go Forward Pine Bluff confirmed Friday that the former Wal Mart building in the Pines Mall has been purchased by an individual interested in establishing a movie theater.

Appearing on the Oldies 101.3 morning show, Watley said:

While Watley would not confirm the purchase, price, sources have told Deltaplex News that the more than 90,000 square building was bought by the Apex Theater group for $450,000.

He said the idea of bringing a movie theater to Pine Bluff was among the things people said they wanted, adding that the city and county has been losing a significant amount of revenue because many people leave the city on weekends and go other places where they can go to a movie, shop and eat.

Watley said that there is still a lot of work to be done, particularly from a financial standpoint.
