Two separate traffic accidents Tuesday resulted in the death of three people and injuries to two more.

In the first of those accidents, 51-year-old David McClellan, of El Dorado died when the 2002 Porsche he was driving was hit by a 2018 Dodge Ram driven by Christopher N. Wilson, 35, of Hope that had crossed the center line of U.S. Highway 82 in Columbia County at 7:02 a.m.

The report said McClellan was westbound at the time as was George R. Critton Jr., 47, of Magnolia who was driving a 2015 Dodge Ram. And whose vehicle was also hit.

Wilson and Critton were injure and taken to the Magnolia Regional Medical Center.

The second accident was reported at 9:37 p.m. in Cleburne County and according to the preliminary report, a 1997 Jeep driven by Mathew A. Risinger, 43, of Heber Springs that was westbound on State Highway 16 crossed the center line and struck a 2022 Nissan driven by Brianna R. Stenger, 23, of Drasco head on.

Risinger and Stenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

The deaths bring to 597 the number of people killed on the state’s highways this year.
