Two Southeast Arkansas residents were killed Friday in a two-vehicle accident in Ashley County.

Drackus Charleston, 29, of Hamburg and Sharrie Williams, 31, of Crossett died when a 2010 Toyota driven by Williams that was westbound on Highway 8 crossed the center line into the eastbound lane and was struck on the right side by a 2018 Kenworth tractor-trailer.

Charleston and Williams were pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Steve Hartshorn at 4:30 p.m.

The accident was reported on State Highway 8 near State Highway 133 at Fountain Hill.

The deaths bring to 444 the number of people killed on the state’s highways so far this year.
