A Magnolia man was killed and his wife injured in a one-vehicle accident in Grant County and a North Little Rock woman was killed and two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Lonoke County Thursday.

According to a preliminary report, William E. Fullwider, 77, of Magnolia was northbound on Highway 167 in Grant County at about 2:45 p.m. when the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse he was driving failed to negotiate a curve, crossed all lanes of traffic and left the roadway on the west side. The vehicle ramped two private drives before coming down and hitting an electrical pole and a tree.

Fullwider and his wife, Sherry, 75, also of Magnolia were taken to a Little Rock hospital where he was pronounced dead.

In Lonoke County, Hannah A. Cates, 19, of North Little Rock was a passenger in a 2002 Pontiac driven by Tavon Ellis, 21, of Little Rock that was southbound on U.S. 165/State Highway 161 and crossed the center line, striking a 2021 Ford that was northbound head-on.

Cates was killed and Ellis and another passenger, Natalya Lawson, 18, of North Little Rock were injured and taken to hospitals in Little Rock.

The deaths bring to 95 the number of people who have been killed so far this year on the state’s highways.
