The Arkansas Department of Health reports 16 cases of the coronavirus are now confirmed in Arkansas. 30 persons are listed as under investigation.

On Saturday, Governor Asa Hutchinson announced in a press conference that three more cases of coronavirus were confirmed overnight.

That brings the total number of presumptive cases in the state to 16.

According to Meg Mirivel with the Arkansas Department of Health, all 16 cases in Arkansas are no longer presumptive but confirmed positive.

Governor Hutchinson has authorized the activation of the Arkansas National Guard to assist in the COVID-19 response.

The Arkansas Department of Health is hopeful that it can increase daily testing from 20 to 160 within a week. Healthcare workers are at a much higher risk of contracting the virus.

Health officials are urging people with mild symptoms to not flood emergency rooms and urgent care clinics unless symptoms are severe.

Officials recommend patients call their primary physician before requesting a test. If you have any questions or believe you are showing symptoms of the virus, UAMS has set up a 24/7 hotline at 1-800-632-4502 for all patients across the state.
