The White Hall School Board voted to add more clarification regarding weapons and toys that look like weapons on the school campuses after numerous students have been expelled for bringing weapons on campus during the 2021-22 school year.

Superintendent Doug Dorris said they have had issues with students bringing airsoft guns and toy guns to campus, and they want to make sure parents and students know they must be left at home.

Dorris said they realize that many students like to go hunting and will sometimes bring something to school with them unintentionally. If that happens the student needs to turn it into a principal immediately, and no action will be taken against that student.

The board also voted to set the board meetings for the 2022-23 school year. The board will meet on the second Tuesday of each month at the district administration building with the exception of two meetings.

The March meeting will be moved from March 14 to March 16 due to the annual Chamber of Commerce banquet being held on the 14th. Additionally, the board will meet at Hardin Elementary School in Redfield for the May 9 meeting.

The board also approved a lighting package for the Agri building for the sum of $12,150. Additionally, the board approved a contract with S & D Electric for the wiring of the Agri building for the sum of $35,328.

The board also had a lengthy discussion regarding SSC, Inc., who is used for cleaning services on each campus. The board will request to meet with the company each February so they can review the contract to determine if the district will continue using their services.

A three-year deal was approved with Jostens for $22,500 per year. Jostens will provide high school yearbooks each of the three years with this agreement.

The board also approved a Statement of Intent, which is an agreement from the district to follow state guidelines in regards to providing services for special needs students.

The board also approved the low bid from Scott Systems Heating and Air to replace two air conditioning units at the high school. The two new units will replace units in the high school gym area. This will be paid out of the ESSER funds.

In one final piece of business, the board approved a $24,480 bid from Kaufman Construction to install drainage systems at Hardin Elementary in Redfield. The district has been having issues with areas washing out during rain storms. This is a repair that should help with the washout issues.
