After conducting clean-up activities on the west side of Pine Bluff on Saturday, Mayor Shirley Washington led volunteers as they continued the effort Monday as a part of the Martin Luther King Jr. day of service.

Washington told Deltaplex News the effort Monday was to get to areas that volunteers couldn’t get to Saturday.

Washington, who took office in 2017 and has championed cleanups said the city is slowly losing the battle against litter but “we won’t give up. The citizens have to do their part.”

She said city officials are looking at additional signage and while there is legislation on the books, it may be helpful to look at that legislation and possibly update it.
