Beginning in April, the City of Pine Bluff will partner with the Urban Renewal Agency and multiple other agencies in a coordinated effort to clean up neighborhoods.

The program will be called Green Sweep and Chandra Griffin, the Executive Director of the Urban Renewal Agency talked about it Tuesday on the Oldies 101.3 morning show.

Griffin described the effort as a “friendly reminder” of what ordinances are possibly being broken that could result in fines or court action but “we hope it doesn’t go that far.”

An information meeting was scheduled at the First Assembly of God Westside Campus Tuesday to explain the program.

The Urban Renewal Agency is also concentrating on removing blight in the city, she said.

Griffin said so far this year, 7 properties have been knocked down, most of them residential, but there are others in the pipeline to be abated.

She said the weather has hampered much of the work so far this year but “when we get to the dry season we can go back to back to back.”
