The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s School of Business & Management and the Associates Career Education Services (ACES) are offering students a real estate course beginning in the fall of 2018, according to a news release.
Students can earn four credit hours toward their degree and at the same time fulfill the requirements to take the Arkansas Real Estate Exam, according to the release.
Real Estate Practice (Course Number FINA3418) will be taught from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The course contains the essentials of real estate law, principles and practices.
Organizers plan to invite Realtors and real estate companies from around Central Arkansas to speak with students about the industry. ACES is an Arkansas-based institution focused on real estate education and certification.
Scott A. Jones, a lawyer, is the principle instructor for the UAPB course.
“This course presents a great opportunity for UAPB students,” Jones said. “Attending this 60-hour class makes them eligible to sit for the Arkansas Real Estate Exam and provides them with upper level college credit. Students completing the course have the opportunity to obtain a professional license they can use to pursue real estate as their primary career or compliment other professional endeavors. Beyond the educational value, the concepts and information learned here will be invaluable as they buy/sell property later in life.”
Lawrence Awopetu is the interim dean of the UAPB School of Business and Management.
“Today’s educators are required to move well beyond traditional ‘book knowledge,’ so having the ability to strategically align with professionals from the private-sector was very attractive to our department,” Awopetu said. “I am so very pleased that we will be able to offer a level of practical knowledge that can easily, and some cases instantly, transform into a job, career and income source for our students.”
