UAPB Softball: Lady Lions Knocks off Grambling 4-1 Behind Adams’16-strikeout Showing

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas —Freshman Kayla Adams was mowing people down on Friday, setting another school record on the mound, striking out 16 Grambling St. hitters over seven innings of work to help power the UAPB Lady Lions over the Tigers 4-1.

In addition to her 16 strikeouts, Adams (9-4) tossed seven innings, giving up one run on four hits and walking one for UAPB.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lady Lions got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board at the bottom of the first inning, but the game was still scoreless. UAPB scored twice, with one run coming across on Kaitlyn Neely’s single.

The Lady Lions held the Tigers scoreless before returning to the board the next inning. UAPB scored a pair of runs in the frame, bringing the score to 4-0 in favor of the Lady Lions. Grambling St. put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but UAPB still held on for the 4-1 win.
