UAPB Men’s Hoops: Milton records double-double in Golden Lions loss to Alcorn State

PINE BLUFF, AR —Kylen Milton registered a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, but the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men’s basketball team fell to the Alcorn St. Braves 68-56 at home Saturday.

The Golden Lions had two players score in double figures, led by Milton, who secured a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Lonnell Martin tacked on 11 points and four assists and Ismael Plet added nine points and seven rebounds.

UAPB did a great job disrupting Alcorn St. shots in the contest, coming away with six blocks. Robert Lewis led the way individually for the Golden Lions with two rejections.

How It Happened

After falling behind 20-14, UAPB went on an 8-0 run with 9:59 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Milton, to take a 22-20 lead. The Golden Lions then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 29-28.

Alcorn State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 57-46 advantage before UAPB went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Martin’s three, to shrink the deficit to 57-52 with 5:12 to go in the contest. Alcorn State responded and outscored the Golden Lions the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 68-56.
