Basketball Announces Coaching Staff

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Head Men’s Basketball Coach Solomon Bozeman announced his coaching staff today to finalize his staff heading into the 2021-22 season to add to a talented incoming recruiting class.  The Golden Lions will welcome assistant coaches Bryan Sherrer, Dakota Brasher, Cameron Henderson, and Director of Player Development Christian Robertson.

Sherrer spent the last seven seasons at the Junior College level at Three Rivers College (MO). He worked for the legendary Gene Bess, who is the all-time winningest coach at any level with 1300 wins. Sherrer helped Three Rivers to 128 wins and one Region XVI title over the past seven seasons. He recruited 4 Juco All-Americans, 37 4-year players, 19 of them signing with Division 1 schools during his tenure.

Sherrer spent three seasons at Murray State as the Graduate Assistant from (2011-2014), where the Racers compiled a 75-23 record. He coached 2 NBA players, Isaiah Canaan (34th pick in the 2013 Draft) and Cameron Payne 14th pick in the 2015 Draft).
Sherrer had a hand in just about every program area, including player development, film exchange, practice coordination, and academics. He graduated with a master’s degree in 2013 at Murray State in human development and leadership.

Sherrer started his college playing career at Three Rivers Community College (2006-08) in Poplar Bluff, Mo., and was team captain. In 2008, he was the NJCAA Region-16 Player of the Year and led the Raiders to the NJCAA Final Four and was named to the NJCAA 1st Team All-America Team. He was also was named team captain at South Alabama (2008-10) and ranked eighth in the nation in free throw percentage at 90.1 as a senior in 2010. Sherrer was a student assistant at South Alabama while finishing his degree in organizational communication in 2011.

A native of Monticello, Ark., Sherrer was a 4-time All-Conference (2002-2006) and three-time Arkansas All-State picks (2003-06) while playing for his father, Wayne Sherrer, at Monticello High School.

Dakota Brasher is entering his first season with the Golden Lion Men’s Basketball program.  Most recently, Brasher worked at Oral Roberts University as a Graduate Assistant from 2018 until 2020 under Coach Paul Mills. During his time at Oral Roberts, his primary responsibilities were assisting with the video operations, scouting, and player development. Brasher played a significant role in the development of two First-team All-Summit League players, Kevin Obanor and Emmanuel Nzekwesi.

Prior to his time at Oral Roberts, Brasher served as a student manager at Indiana University under Coach Tom Crean from 2014 until 2017, during which the Hoosiers won a Big Ten Regular Season Championship (2015-2016).

A native of Austin, Indiana, Brasher earned his Leadership Master of Business Administration degree from Oral Roberts University in 2020 and his degree in Sports Marketing and Management from Indiana University in 2017.

Before joining the Golden Lions staff, Henderson spent six years as Central Oklahoma’s assistant men’s basketball coach. Henderson came to the Bronchos in July 2015 after a highly successful three-year stint at Connors State College.

Henderson has helped UCO to 75 wins over the past five seasons. Central went 16-14 in 2015-16 during Henderson’s first year with the program, then had a 17-12 record the following season before going 20-10 in 2017-18. The Bronchos went 11-17 in 2018-19 before going 11-18 in 2019-20.

After spending three years as an assistant coach at Connors, Cameron came to UCO, with the Cowboys going 79-18 and qualifying for the junior college national tournament twice during that span.

A three-time All-State performer at Hall High School in Little Rock, Ark., Henderson started his college career at Connors in 2007. He was a two-time All-Bi-State Conference and All-Region II selection for the Cowboys before signing Montana State.

Henderson was a two-year letterman for the Bobcats and then stayed on as an assistant student coach. He returned to Connors as an assistant coach in 2012.  The Cowboys went 24-9 in 2012-13, followed by a 23-7 campaign and conference championship in 2013-14, and then had a 32-2 record this past season while winning conference and regional titles. Connors made the national tournament in 2013 and ’15, advancing to the Elite Eight this season.

Henderson recruited the 2014 and ’15 Region II MVP award winners, and 11 players signed with a Division I schools during his tenure at Connors.

Robertson, an alumnus, attended Jones County Junior College, earned MAJAC All-Star honors, was listed as a Top 80 JUCO Prospect according to jucorecruiting.com, and a MACCC State Champion Runner-Up, all before signing to the University of Arkansas at Pine-Bluff. Christian played for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Men’s Basketball team for two seasons, where he was a SWAC Runner- Up in 2019. Robertson graduated from UAPB in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education.

Robertson recently played professionally in the top league in Armenia for Cilicia, and Vahakni City. While overseas, he was an Armenian A-League Champion, VBet A-League All-Star, Eurasion League Runner-Up, Armenian Cup Runner-Up, and All-Armenian Team, and finished Top 10 in scoring.

Robertson served as Chief Executive Officer at Grind & Advance LLC, a platform for athletes to succeed on and off the court, and trained numerous high-level athletes on the High School, D1, and NBA/NFL levels.
