UAPB Football: Johness Davis Earns FCS National Freshman of the Week & SWAC Newcomer of the Week
PINE BLUFF, AR.- In his first game in front of a crowd of 32,000 plus at the 34th Annual Southern Heritage Classic in Memphis, TN., freshman running back Johness Davis added his name to some of the great backs that ever came through the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions football program, when he was announced Monday as the FedEx Ground FCS National Freshman Player of the Week and SWAC Newcomer of the Week.
The redshirt freshman, a very physical and shifty runner carried the ball 24 times for a 167 yards and one touchdown, along with 46 yards receiving. Davis currently leads the conference in rushing with a total of 249 yards.
