A Monticello woman was killed and two people injured in a two-vehicle accident in Drew County Wednesday afternoon.
According to a preliminary report, Peggy Hallman, 67, was eastbound on the U.S. Highway 278 bypass in rainy weather when the vehicle she was driving crossed the centerline into the westbound lane of traffic and into the path of another vehicle.
Hallman and a minor passenger in her vehicle were ejected after impact. Hallman died and the minor passenger was sent to Arkansas Children’s Hospital at Little Rock. The driver of the other vehicle, Adam Willis, 27, of Hot Springs was taken to Drew Memorial Baptist Hospital at Monticello.
The accident was reported at 2:20 p.m. and the death was the 114th so far this year on Arkansas highways.
