The state will test students this spring even if it’s not required. The Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education says it is even more important to test kids this spring since tests were waived last year due to the pandemic.
According to Deputy Commissioner for DESE, Stacy Smith, third through 10th graders will participate in the ACT Aspire test, and 11th graders will also take part in ACT testing.
Smith said spring testing is the only consistent statewide data point they have to find where students were impacted by the lack of testing due to the pandemic.
