Arkansas State Police have released a preliminary report of the accident that resulted in the death of three juveniles in Jefferson County on Oct. 23.

According to the report, one of the juveniles was driving a 2015 Jeep that was northbound on I-530 at 4:01 a.m. when the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a tree. After impact, the vehicle caught fire with the driver and two passengers inside.

A third passenger, also a juvenile was able to exit the vehicle and sustained severed injuries. That person was taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

The driver and two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Because all the victims were juveniles, the names were not released.

The three deaths bring to 406 the number of people killed on the state’s highways so far this year.
