Stand Your Ground Bill Falls in Committee

SHARE NOW

The “Stand Your Bill” is dead, for now.  The Arkansas House Judiciary Committee defeated SB 24 on a voice vote.  The bill, carried by State Senator Bob Ballinger, was previously approved by the State Senate.  The committee heard more than three hours of public comments after twenty-six citizens signed up to speak.  Out of the twenty-six, only one signed up to speak for the bill.  The bill can be presented again to the same committee.  State representatives can also ask to bring the bill out of committee and directly to the House floor.
