UAPB Baseball: Golden Lions Win Final Home Series Over Grambling State

PINE BLUFF, AR–The UAPB Golden Lions delivered an impressive weekend performance at home, taking down the Grambling State Tigers baseball in a key Southwestern Athletic Conference series at Torii Hunter Baseball Complex in Pine Bluff.
UAPB used timely hitting, aggressive base running, and strong pitching throughout the series to secure the home victories and continue building momentum late in the conference season. The Golden Lions showed resilience in every game, battling through key moments against a Grambling State squad known for its offensive firepower.
In the opening matchup, UAPB’s offense came alive early with multiple-run innings that gave the Golden Lions control from the start. The lineup consistently applied pressure on the Tigers’ pitching staff, while the defense made several critical plays to preserve the lead. Zyon Hamilton led the way at the plate going 3 for 3 with 5 RBI and 2 runs scored, while Konner Giddley went 3 for 4 with 4 runs scored and an RBI. The pitching staff also delivered quality innings, limiting Grambling’s opportunities with runners in scoring position as Kenny Fabien earned the win.
An 11 run sixth inning gave the Tigers the advantage they needed to steal game two from the Golden Lions, as GSU run ruled UAPB 15-3. Aaron Grant went 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored in the loss.
By the final game of the weekend, UAPB had another strong showing at home. The Golden Lions once again received effective pitching and defensive execution, helping them secure the series victory in front of the home crowd, defeating the Tigers 8-6 in the rubber match.
The weekend success marked an important conference series win for UAPB as the Golden Lions continue positioning themselves for postseason contention in the SWAC standings.
