The Desha County Courthouse at Arkansas City has been awarded two grants from the Arkansas Historical Preservation Restoration program to restore the bell tower and repair and stablilize the roof, decking and vent attic of the annex.

The first of the grants, for $172,114 was for the bell tower while the second was for $268,790.

A $63,540 grant was approved for the Arkansas County Courthouse at Dewitt to restore second and third floor windows while Drew County received $74,432 for an assessment and plan for basement wate mitigation.

Other historical grant applications approved for projects in Southeast Arkansas included $110,078 for HVAC work at the Crossett Municipal Auditorium in Ashley County and $43,950 for installation and interior subterranean drainage system and replace an interior stairwell and hatchway at the Drew County Historical Society and Museum at Monticello.
