Sheriff Woods talks overcrowding at both the adult and juvenile detention centers

Jefferson County Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr., on Monday, talked about overcrowding at both the adult jail and juvenile detention center and then said there is a new initiative from the governor in an effort to solve the problems.

Appearing on the Oldies 1013 morning show, Woods first talked about overcrowding and the steps that have been taken to reduce the number of people locked up.

Morning show host Greg Horne told Woods that money is obviously an issue, then asked if it was time to think about a new jail, both for adults and juveniles.

Woods then went on to say this.

Woods will be a guest on the morning show Tuesday to talk about the press conference and the solutions being proposed.
