Sheridan’s new mayor has called for the creation of a task force to deal with the problem of littering in the city.

According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, Mayor Cain Nattin, who took office Jan. 1, keeping the city clean was one of Nattin’s campaign promise.

The Task force will consist of five members of the community, a student from the high school, the city’s code enforcement officer, a member of the city council and the Mayor.

“There are areas in our city that need to be cleaned up,” Nattin said during a meeting of the council. “There are certain areas where we need to raise the property value and unfortunately, there are certain things that are in the way of that.”

He said once the task force identifies areas that need improvements, or ideas that need to be implemented, they can make recommendations to the council which approved the creation of the task force.
