With identical vote totals of 578 and identical percentages of nearly 48 percent, LaTisha Brunson and Ivan Whitfield will face opponents for two seats on the Pine Bluff City Council after vote totals were announced Tuesday night, Brunson as a candidate in Ward 1 and Whitfield as the incumbent in Ward 3.

Brunson will face Danny Walker, who finished second in a five-person race while Whitfield will take on Lanett Frazier.

Brunson, who was endorsed by Current Ward 1 Council Member Joni Alexander talked with Deltaplex News and had this to say.

In a press release, Frazier said she looks forward to engaging Council member Whitfield about our visions for the future of Pine Bluff. For the last 17 years, I have had the4 honor of working for the city I am proud to call home. I have collaborated with nearly every city department under  three mayors and dozens of council members.”

She went on to say she is” running for Pine Bluff City Council to bring unity to our community and make progress on the issues that matter most.”

In Ward 4, incumbent Council Member Steven Mays Sr., easily defeated political newcomer Cassandra Dean 501 to 244.
