Legal paperwork concerning the Harbor Oaks Golf Course reverting to the control of the City of Pine Bluff is expected to be completed soon, allowing Pine Bluff Parks and Recreation to take over the property.

Harbor Oaks had been leased to Mike Wilson and his wife but earlier this year, Wilson sought to cancel the lease due to financial considerations.

On Monday, legislation including a budget adjustment to pay expenses at Harbor Oaks, and to advertise for a golf superintendent and part-time workers were pulled by the Pine Bluff City Council because Wilson had not signed off on the final paperwork.

On Thursday, Parks and Recreation Director Sam Glover was a guest on the Oldies 101.3 morning show and confirmed that the city owned all the property at Harbor Oaks.

Glover also said when his department does take over, a lot of work will be involved in getting the course back into shape.

Despite the work that has to be done, Glover said there was a possibility that golfers will be able to play on brand new greens by September.

The current clubhouse and restaurant will also require a lot of work and Glover sand an architectural firm as been selected to start that process.
