Grant County Sheriff’s Deputy Pete Roberts won the race for Grant County Sheriff in convincing fashion after landing 2,408 total votes in Tuesday’s primary election.

Richard (Rick) Camp brought in 550 votes while Tony Wallace garnered 242 votes.

Roberts, who has worked in Grant County law enforcement for over 20 years, will now take over for Sheriff Ray Vance. Vance is slated to retire later this year.

Vance endorsed Roberts for the position, and Roberts said it was important for that to happen for him.

Roberts said that the Grant County Quorum Court has always been a supporter of the Sheriff’s Department, and that will help him as he moves forward once he is sworn in.

Roberts said he is appreciative of his supporters.

Roberts finished by saying he has a lot to plan for before he is sworn in as Grant County Sheriff in January.
