Officer Injured on Traffic Stop Suspect in Custody

Officers of the Pine Bluff Police Department were in the area of 40th and Linden Streets when they encountered a man later identified as 31 year old Chad Russell riding a 4-wheeler on the street.  While the officers were conducting the stop, Russell started to flee on the ATV but hit one of the officers while doing so.  That officer’s name is being withheld at this time but is being treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

After hitting the officer Mr. Russell led officers in a vehicle pursuit that traveled across the city.  Eventually he fled into a wooded area in the area of Barraque and Redbud.  Assisted by deputies of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, officers were able to establish a perimeter around the woods and called in tracking dogs from the Arkansas Department of Correction.  Once they arrived a search of the woods was conducted and Mr. Russell was arrested and the 4-wheeler located.  The specific charges are still being determined.

The Pine Bluff Police Department would like to thank the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas Department of Correction K9 Team for their assistance in capturing Mr. Russell.
