A residential fire at a house in central Pine Bluff Wednesday afternoon resulted in the death of one person.
The fire was reported at 2307 W. 11th Ave., at 5:05 p.m. and accord9ng to a press release, when firefighters arrived at the scene, they reported heavy smoke and flames at the front of the house.
After extinguishing the fire, a body was found inside the home.
Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley told Deltaplex News Thursday morning that the body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the identity, as well as the cause and manner of death.
Firefighters were on the scene for about two and-a-half hours and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
