The brand new Lincoln County jail was supposed to have been opened by now but remains closed while Lincoln County authorities wait on one part.
Appearing on the Oldies 101.3 morning show Monday Lincoln County Judge Buddy Earnest talked about that one part.
Earnest said he, the sheriff, and Lincoln County 911 coordinator have been dealing with the issue for months and they have been given one projected date after another to open the jail but those have fallen through.
Earnest was also asked about the road situation in the county and said this.
He said the state inspects the county’s bridges annually and then sends a report of what bridges need what work.
“It’s our job to go out and fix the problems,” he said.
