A Pine Bluff man who turned himself in to police Saturday will be held without bond after District Judge John Kearney ruled prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with capital murder.

Raheen Morehead, 24, was taken into custody after he was identified as the person who shot Cedric Hawkins on Nov. 1.

During a court hearing Monday, Deputy Prosecutor Shana Alexander said Hawkins was found on the parking lot at St. John Apartments at 1105 E. 26th Ave., after police responded to a reported shooting call. He was taken to Jefferson Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detective Keith Banks reported that Morehead and a second person known as D.P. had been with the victim at another apartment and D.P. later told people at the apartment that Morehead had shot Hawkins.

When he was questioned, Morehead denied any involvement in the shooting. He was told to come back to court Dec. 12.
