The City of Monticello has added cameras to intersections where a large number of accidents have been reported and 911 dispatchers can monitor a live feed from those cameras.
According to the Advance Monticellonian newspaper, cameras were installed at the intersection of Highways 278 and 425 to try and assist law enforcement officers and first responders.
The story said dispatchers will be able to make a visual examination of the scene which may determine if fire or EMT’s need to be sent, how many wreckers
The camera may also be used to determine fault, the story said, particularly in accidents where there are no witnesses.
