One person was killed and a second injured when a vehicle being chased by Arkansas State Troopers ran off Interstate 30 in Pulaski County Thursday.

According to a preliminary report, Marcus Scott Jr., was northbound on I530 fleeing troopers in the left lane when the 2017 Toyota he was driving ran off the road. Scott overcorrected and the vehicle entered the gore of the highway before hitting a highway sign.

The vehicle then struck another highway sign and the guardrail post before overturning and ejecting Scott.

A passenger in the car, Cox Dior, 23, also of Jacksonville, was injured.

The death was the 194th so far this year on the state’s highways.
