A fundraising event is planned this Saturday in Jefferson County for the Make a Wish Foundation.

Appearing on the Oldies 1013 morning show Monday, Leslie Humphrey, Development Officer for the Central and South Arkansas Make-A-Wish talked about the event.

Humphrey said the fundraiser will be at 520 Bohannon Road, which is south of Pine Bluff behind Design One. Admission will be $5 and 100 percent of the money raised will go to the Midsouth Make A wish organization. A $25 fee will be charged for vendors who wish to participate.

She also explained that Make A Wish is not just for kids with a terminal illness. But also for children who have critical or life-threatening illnesses.

Prior to COVID, one of the most requested wishes was a trip to Disney land and she said the organization just recently resumed planning trips there.

Humphrey said a company in South Arkansas does unicorn parties and will bring a carriage and horses dressed up like unicorns.

Asked by morning show host Greg Horne what families should do if they have a child in need of a wish being granted, Humphrey said this.
