A $1,500 secured bond was set for a White Hall man accused of assaulting a wheelchair-bound elderly man with a vacuum cleaner.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge 57-year-old Jeffery Dziemiela with 2nd Degree Domestic Battery.
Reading from an affidavit, the Prosecuting Attorney said that on July 23rd, officers were dispatched to 7501 Camden Cutoff Road in response to an armed disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, a 69-year-old wheelchair user who has one foot.
The victim told officers he had been allowing Dziemiela to stay at his residence when, during an altercation, Dziemiela became aggressive and struck him with an old vacuum cleaner.
Dziemiela was transported to the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center, where he was advised of his Miranda rights. He signed a waiver acknowledging those rights before providing a statement to investigators.
Dziemiela was ordered to have no contact with the victim and is scheduled to return to court.
