A suspect was taken into custody following an armed domestic disturbance in the Rowell area of Cleveland County, according to the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded to a residence after receiving a report of an armed domestic disturbance. During the response, Cleveland County deputies and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Sergeant Eric Rawls located the suspect in a wooded area behind the residence.
Authorities reported that a brief standoff followed before the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
The Sheriff’s Department said the scene was secured following the arrest and there was no continuing threat to the public.
The suspect was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff for a mental health evaluation.
No injuries were reported in the information released by the Sheriff’s Department. The identity of the suspect and additional details surrounding the circumstances of the domestic disturbance were not immediately released.
