The University of Arkansas at Monticello is set to expand its academic reach through a new partnership aimed at increasing access to affordable four-year degrees in north Arkansas.

UAM and North Arkansas College will formally announce the agreement on April 30, outlining plans to allow students to complete bachelor’s degrees in Harrison at one of the lowest tuition rates in the state.

The partnership will initially focus on integrating business and education programs. Beginning in August 2026, students at North Arkansas College will have the opportunity to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration degree through UAM without leaving the Harrison campus. Plans are also underway to add a Bachelor of Arts in K-6 Elementary Education program.

Both degree offerings are pending approval from the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Higher Learning Commission.

UAM officials say the collaboration is designed to leverage the strengths of both institutions, combining resources to better support student success and increase college completion rates, particularly in rural areas of the state.

The announcement event is scheduled for 1 p.m. on April 30 in the John Paul Hammerschmidt Conference Room on the North Arkansas College south campus. Leaders from both institutions are expected to speak, and the event will be open to the public and media. Interview and visual opportunities will also be available.
