Arkansas education officials say public school test scores are showing continued improvement in 2026, according to Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the Arkansas Department of Education.

State officials said more students than ever scored proficient on the Arkansas Teaching, Learning, and Assessment System (ATLAS) exam in the years following the implementation of the LEARNS Act.

According to data released by the governor’s office, overall student proficiency has increased by more than 20% since 2024 across all subjects and grade levels. At the same time, the number of students performing at the lowest achievement levels has declined by 17% over the same period.

Subject-specific results show proficiency gains in multiple areas, including a 7.8% increase in mathematics, an 8.4% increase in science, and a 5.7% increase in English language arts.

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the data reflects continued progress under the LEARNS Act, noting that efforts should continue to build on what officials describe as early successes in improving student performance statewide.

School districts across Arkansas now have access to their individual 2026 ATLAS assessment data. A statewide summary of results is available on the governor’s website.
