A man is in custody following a multi-agency investigation into a series of thefts and burglaries across Jefferson County and other parts of Arkansas.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, 32-year-old Paul Weeks has been identified as a suspect in multiple cases under investigation.
Authorities said investigators worked with law enforcement agencies across the state in areas where Weeks was believed to have traveled. During that coordination, officials determined Weeks is also suspected in theft-related incidents in other jurisdictions.
On April 26, Weeks fled from officers with the Malvern Police Department while allegedly attempting to steal a vehicle. He was later taken into custody and is currently being held at the Hot Spring County Detention Center.
Jefferson County investigators have since interviewed Weeks and placed a hold on him for charges including commercial burglary, theft of property and criminal trespass.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue working to recover property believed to have been stolen. Additional charges could be filed as the case develops.
