A $3,000 secured bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man accused of breaking into a car and buying things with a stolen credit card.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge 21-year-old Jimmy Burgess with Theft of Property, Breaking and Entering, and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card.

Reading from an affidavit, Deputy Prosecutor Ty Spradlin said police were called out to a house on Union Ave in response to a breaking and entering.

When they got there, the victim advised that someone had broken his passenger side window.

On May 2nd, the victim contacted police because while attempting to cancel his credit and debit cards, the bank informed him that 6 unauthorized charges had been attempted on his card.

Security footage from Smokes and Munchies on 28th Ave showed 3 unidentified males making purchases using his card. The footage was posted on the Pine Bluff Police Department’s Facebook page asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects, which led to Burgess being identified and taken into custody.

He is scheduled to return to court.
