The Lincoln County Quorum Court on Monday rejected a request from the owners of a Star City restaurant to approve a beer and wine only permit for the business.

Justin and Tenecia Mills, the owners of Smokin’ Mills Steakhouse and BBQ, located in the Country Village, told the justices of the peace that with the permit, his projected sales would reach over $1 million.

The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center projected a 30-percent increase in food sales alone which would have increased tax revenue for the county by as much as two percent of all the sales and use tax funds collected.

The Lincoln Ledger newspaper reported that seven members of the Quorum Court voted against the request while two others favored it.
