State of Education Secretary Johnny Key has released a letter naming a new interim superintendent for the Pine Bluff School District following the removal of Barbara Warren.

DeltaplexNews.com broke the news regarding Warren earlier today.

That letter can be viewed below:

Dear Pine Bluff School District Staff,

As the district moves one step closer to return of local control, the decision was made to appoint a new interim superintendent to work alongside the new limited authority school board.

Ms. Jennifer Barbaree, who has been the assistant state superintended for the DESE Office of Coordinated Support and Service, assumed the role of interim superintendent today. Ms. Barbaree is originally from Jefferson County and has been directly involved with providing support for the district the last two years.

We appreciate Ms. Warren’s leadership the last few years, as well as her efforts that led to the State Board of Education’s recent appointment of a limited authority board. Ms. Warren’s expertise will be valuable during the transition of authority.

We look forward to working with both Ms. Barbaree and the new board on next steps, as the district transitions back to local control.

Sincerely,

Johnny Key
