A fire of as yet unknown origin has temporarily halted construction on the new Jefferson Regional Specialty Hospital at White Hall.
The fire was reported at about 4:30 p.m. and Jefferson Regional spokeswoman Wendy Talbot said Wednesday that there were no serious injuries as a result of the blaze, but several people were treated for minor burns by first responders.
Appearing on the Oldies 1013 morning show, Talbot was asked if a determination had been made as to the extent of damage to the building.
Asked by morning show host Greg Horne if a cause for the fire had been determined, Talbot said this.
Talbot said the White Hall Fire Department was first to arrive on the scene but firefighters from the Pine Bluff Fire Department also responded to battle the blaze.
