Saturday is National Drug Take Back Day across the county as law enforcement agencies work to collect unwanted prescription drugs.

On Tuesday, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Capt. Yohance Brunson, commander of the Tri-County Drug Task Force appeared on Talk Back Live and talked about the county’s effort.

Brunson went on to say that keeping unused prescription drugs can be dangerous if there are children around.

He said that the county collected more than 200 pounds of unused drugs during the last drug take back day, and there are permanent drug collection boxes at Doctor’s Orders Pharmacies in Pine Bluff and White Hall, and another permanent box is now in Lincoln County. Also, the sheriff’s office next to the adult jail has a collection box that can be accessed during regular business hours Monday through Friday.

In addition to the county effort, Brunson said Pine Bluff Police will be collecting unwanted drugs at the Masonic Temple on Dollarway Road across from Walgreens Saturday.
