The Jefferson County Clerk’s Office has announced important dates for the upcoming school millage election in Pine Bluff.

According to a news release, the clerk’s office is prohibited from sending unsolicited absentee ballots to voters who have not recently requested them, based on Act 736. All voters who wish to receive an absentee ballot must contact the clerk’s office.

July 5 will be the last day to register for the special election and July 24 will be the first day that designated bearers may pick up absentee ballots.

Early voting for the Aug. 8 special election will begin Aug. 1 during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Early voting will continue through Aug. 7, and there will be no early voting on Saturday.

Aug. 6 will be the final day to transfer voter registrations to Jefferson County and Aug. 7 will be the final day to apply for an absentee ballot. It will also be the deadline for voters to deliver absentee ballots to the clerk’s office.

The polls will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 8 which will also be the deadline for receiving absentee ballots by mail, bearer/administrator/ agent.
