Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchison continues to make the rounds of morning news programs in his capacity as the Chairmen of the National Governors Association. Hutchison appeared on CBS this morning and was asked about possible gun legislation in light of the shooting in Uvalde Texas. He was quick to point out what he has accomplished here in The Natural State..

Hutchinson is supporting “hardening” soft targets such as schools, while still protecting the second amendment. He did say he is willing to look at age limits for AR 15 style weapons.

Hutchinson talked about also hardening public events when the car show shooting in Dumas was brought up.

The segment started with data from the CDC showing firearms deaths have now surpassed car accidents as the leading cause of death among children. A Kaiser Family Foundation study was also cited that shows Arkansas is 5th in the country in firearms deaths, trailing only Alaska, D.C., Mississippi and Louisiana.
