Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley has identified the victim of an early morning shooting at the Alon Gas Station at 28th Avenue and Olive Street.
Kelley pronounced George W. Tolbert, 60, dead at the scene at 12:22 a.m. and listed the cause of death as gunshot wounds. The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office at Little Rock for an autopsy.
According to police, officers were sent to the gas station just before midnight and found Tolbert on the parking lot.
In a press release, Lt. David DeFoor said the identity of the shooter is known and at 5:26 a.m., Dewayne Johnson, 60, was booked into the adult detention center on probable cause of second-degree murder pending an expected court appearance Thursday.
Police said the circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation.
