At its most recent meeting, the Grant County Quorum Court approved a request from County Judge Randy Pruitt to apply for a grant to help pay for road construction.

Pruitt is seeking the grant from the Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Division Unpaved Roads for work on the 5800 block of Grant 9.

According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, the judge said the grant requires a 5o-percent match and using county labor and equipment would count toward that match. He said the grant money would be used to buy a 6-foot by 3-foot concrete box culvert  to go under the road, which will be elevated  so that water can’t get over it.

Pruitt said the grant application was sent in recently so there is no start  date for the project and said when it is, the road will have to be closed for a few days while the culvert is installed.
